Highly Integrated PA-PIFA With a Wide Frequency Tuning Range

This letter presents a highly integrated power amplifier (PA) antenna with the capability of frequency tuning. A planar inverted-F (PIFA) is used to directly match PA transistor. mitigates lossy output matching network in PA-integrated (PAIA). In order achieve wide tuning range, combination capacitors loaded at PIFA control input impedances so that can be maintained The analysis and design procedure tunable PAIA are detailed. For verification, prototype designed, fabricated, measured. experimental results show range proposed covers from 2 4 GHz. Over this effective isotropic radiation power-added efficiency higher than 40.5 dBm 60% 26.5 dBm, respectively.
